When I told a friend that I wanted to get in touch with you, she recommended that I send a letter to your publicist. I could do that. I could try to get through the gate keepers. But that didn't sound like fun. Then I saw that you were on Facebook doing some research for your upcoming film. I could just write to you there. But because a lot of people are already writing you there, that also didn't sound like much fun. So I discovered that my motives are twofold: I would genuinely like to communicate with you, but I'd also like the process of reaching you to be a bit of an adventure.
I've created this online shoebox of letters as an experiment. I trust that you will stumble onto them. I'm not sure how or when you will find them, or how many you will read. Not the most direct route, perhaps, but one that gets me much more excited than writing to publicists.
When you find the letters, I hope you will receive them in the spirit in which they are written: one of curiosity, generosity, and respect for the journey of the artist.
Best,
Laura
